The Festival of Colors, or Holi Festival, is an Indian festival that commemorates multiple things: the coming of spring, the love shared between ourselves and God and the love shared between ourselves and each other, and the destruction of the evil witch Holika. The festival has music, dancing, and culminates in the tossing of powdered colors.
Spanish Fork, Utah happens to be the location of a Krishna temple, a Stateside location where this festival is celebrated. This year is the fourth year I have gone to this delightful explosion of colors! A first this year, however, was when I crowd surfed. I’ve been to many concerts, many festivals. But today was the first time I ever crowd surfed. It was fantastic.
